I'm participating in the 50 States United for Healthy Air Event because as a person of faith I believe that ALL of God's creatures (nonhuman as well as human) deserve clean air. My bunny companion, Wilma, represents all the nonhuman animals.

Barbara Smith

My faith requires that I speak out on behalf of the voiceless—God's earth and God's nonhuman creatures. I teach in the Religion Department at Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts. I am inspired by all my students, as wells as my nephews, and my goddaughter. I want them to have a healthy planet and healthy air to breathe. The only way to assure this is for Congress, the President and the EPA, to stop giving subsidies to Big Oil and Big Coal. Instead, give subsidies to renewable clean energies and producers of local food.

People of all faiths and people of no particular faith are calling for our senators to do the right thing—to work toward clean air for all of us and for future generations.

50 States United For Healthy Air

Clean air should be a fundamental right. Air pollution causes asthma attacks, lung disease, and even death. But our bodies don't have to be the dumping ground for dirty industries.

The technology to dramatically reduce harmful air pollution is available today, and major polluters should be required to use it.

Clean Air Ambassadors from every state are sending a powerful message: Everyone has a right to breathe clean, healthy air.

It’s time Congress and the EPA used their ears to help our lungs.
