Though there are countless scenes that describe life in New York City, the image of kids playing in the spray of a fire hydrant is one of the most iconic. These images capture the spirit, love and play of my home. But the New York pace of life is also so fast that I think residents sometimes lose sight of the importance of a clean, healthy environment. We need to regain our vision and do all that we can to keep safe that which sustains us.

Clean Air Ambassador | New York, New York

Tradell Hawkins

I live in New York City; a city filled with so much diversity, passion, creativity and love. Yet, in the hustle and bustle, I think a lot of New Yorkers lose sight of the importance to maintain our beauty city and make our contribution to a healthy and sustainable environment.

I personally think it's very important and would like to educate and motivate others to take the necessary steps to moving us forward and holding each other accountable. If it is we who have destroyed the environment, it is we who need to salvage it!

If it is we who have destroyed the environment, it is we who need to salvage it!

50 States United For Healthy Air

Clean air should be a fundamental right. Air pollution causes asthma attacks, lung disease, and even death. But our bodies don't have to be the dumping ground for dirty industries.

The technology to dramatically reduce harmful air pollution is available today, and major polluters should be required to use it.

Clean Air Ambassadors from every state are sending a powerful message: Everyone has a right to breathe clean, healthy air.

It’s time Congress and the EPA used their ears to help our lungs.
