Coal ash sits in a heap in front of the electric power generating station in our community. Though it contains many toxic heavy metals, it is totally unregulated. I toured the electric power generating station and was horrified by the employees' denial of any harmful effects of burning coal.

I now know that coal ash contains mercury, lead, arsenic, and many other very toxic heavy metals. But most of us are not even informed about this risk and the presence of these toxic materials.

My children and grandchildren are exposed to these very toxic heavy metals—all so we can boil water to turn a turbine. This can be done much more safely! We need clean renewable energies and in the meantime, strict regulations on coal burning power plant emissions.

President Obama and our members of Congress have an obligation to empower the EPA to help us regulate the toxic emissions from coal burning power plants and from exposures to their toxic waste products, as well as the emissions of carbon pollution that threaten our very existence on this planet from global warming.

Our children and their children will inherit a nightmare if we do not! Is this our wish for them?

All Messages: Supporting Our Clean Air Ambassadors.

Thank you for your efforts to protect us all and get the word out!

Terrific, Barbara! Good for you for leading this critical fight.... Thank you so much! !!

I live in a district represented by a polluter. Of course, if asked if he would want a coal plant and a coal ash "pond" in his back yard his answer would undoubtedly be 'no.' But taking that opinion and voting in Congress the opposite requires either shear ignorance or, in my opinion, a large sum of money contributed to your next Congressional race.

It is unconscionable that our health is voted away because of money. However, it is the bottom line for energy corporations. People are expendable as long as profits are made. This mentality must end. There must be a hefty price to pay for polluting the environment until these corporations gain a conscience.

Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to represent us in this manner. Please call on me if I can help in any way.

This is unconscionable! I agree about our congressional delegation not being responsible to their constituents. It seems they are more interested in appeasing the corporations, regardless of the need for clean air and water. We need more people like Barbara Warren to stand up for our rights

My Congressional District is, unfortunately, represented by Ben Quayle. I want Senators Kyle and McCain, and the rest of the AZ delegation, as well as President Obama, to know that clean air and water are indispensible to Arizonans and the rest of America. There is no such thing as "clean coal," and if we need to burn coal we should be prepared to apply plenty of regulations to protect the environment for all people, creatures and plants.

Thank you, Barbara Warren, for being AZ's voice for clear air to breath and clean water to drink.

I support your work.

breathe deep!

I'm not happy with votes and decision making on these issues by my Local, District, Congress or Senators of our state of AZ regarding change. Therefore they are my biggest targets to get on board. Yes it's mandatory the President is in absolute support.

Dr. Barbara Warren you are an inspiration and ray of hope. Hope all will work together for these matters as they're necessaties of life! Thank you for all you do!

Lets do this together!

What else needs to be said??!! All living beings need clear air to breath and clean water to drink. These are essential to life!
Dr. Warren speaks for all of us including the ones who have no voices to speak. We ALL WANT to live!! Is that so hard to understand????

We must not move backward in our progress to protect our own health and that of our environment. Thank you and I support your work.

Clean air and clean water -- seems like a no-brainer to me and yet we have to waste countless hours and mega-dollars to make our voice heard. Thank you, Barbara Warren, for being AZ's voice for common sense.

Clean air and and water is a fundamental right of an enlightened society. Let's put us into that category. It's way past due.

If we listen to the corporate sponsored media telling us we need to allow corporations to pollute at will or they will ship their jobs to China, we are buying into this race to the bottom. The clean air act is one of the standards America put in place to insure our standard of living remains high. I don’t want to where a mask when I go outside just so I can compete with a family of slave wage labor in China. The effort to strip the clean air and clean water act is a con funded by corporations that have no interest in our standard of living and corrupt politicians that care more about their campaign contributions than our commonwealth. I support and thank you for your efforts.

Thankyou Barbara,

My experiences with EarthJustice leave me with little doubt as to your nature and determination. We must succeed.. we can't hold our breaths for much longer. I suggest to anyone in governance who encounters this lady and her workers that they be minded. They know what we need, and you better deliver. Fully.. and Fast.

I think we all need to support clean air and water initiatives and let our our congress know we won't take less. Thanks Dr. Warren for representing the people.

This would be a basic human need, right? Absolutely I support you, but remember, this is Arizona we are talking about.

Thank you for all your efforts to do something for our environment. Clean air should be a top priority for all branches of government, no matter which party.

Thank you Dr. Warren for taking on the responsibility of being Arizona's Clean Air Ambassador. Everyone has a right to clean air - not just for ourselves, but for future generations.
It is a travesty of enormous proportions that in a state with enough sun to power almost the entire U.S., we still resort to the use of coal!
I have read that Arizona could be the major solar energy supplier for the entire nation. Why aren't we? Not only would this clean, renewable solar energy clean up our air, it would also create jobs and boost Arizona's economy as well as our national economy.
Thank you Dr. Warren for all of your suggested solutions to our energy problems, now we need to get the President, Senate and the House to co-operate and do what is right for all the tax payers in this United States, not just for the wealthy, they need to pay their fair portion and not hide behind all of their "loopholes" in our system. The above statements "SAY IT ALL" .

Thank you, Barbara, for speaking up for the clean air that we ALL need!

We need the Clean Air act!

Thank you!

It looks like coal will be around for awhile so lets make the plants as clean as possible.

In the meantime lets go wind and sun!

Thank you Barbara, for speaking up!

One change in the alternative energy rebates that would go a long way toward helping to remedy this, would be to make the rebates fully available to people of all levels of income.

Currently, the Federal & State of Arizona rebates are fully available only to those who have higher incomes, because they are tax credits. If your income is low, & you therefore pay a small amount of income tax, you get only that much rebate in any one year, so you have to foot the large capital outlay up front, while the rebate is dribbled back to you over a period of several years.

So the real beneficiaries of the current alternative energy rebates are the wealthy who are able to receive the entire rebate the same year they install the equipment.

If immediate rebates were available, there would be a "greening" of the roofs of most of the houses in this country.... greatly decreasing the need for power generated by the grid!

Thank you Dr. Warren for taking on the responsibility of being Arizona's Clean Air Ambassador. Everyone has a right to clean air - not just for ourselves, but for future generations.

Thank you so much for giving of your time and energy to take this urgent message to our legislators. The need to stop toxins and pollutants from continuing to enter our air supply is vital for the survival of all life. This is an obvious truth. How sad that we must fight so hard to get support from our own elected representatives to safeguard our health (and theirs).

Thank you and more power to you! Health is wealth and loss of health is loss of future! A clean environment is basic!

Thank you Barbara for speaking the truth for us here in AZ! This will be an effective way to create great change Now!

The only problem i have is that on the news they said we are the second worst air pollution. We need to fix it, but thank you for being the ambassador for Arizona.

The last thing the power/oil/coal/nuclear/etc companies want is for citizens to independently produce their own power, thus cutting their parasitic umbilical cord to more and more money. Vast areas of desert do not need to be destroyed for more centralized solar arrays either. The area to place an adequate number of photovoltaic panels to power every household without destroying more desert already exists. It is called rooftops. Every house, especially in the desert, should have an array installed.

Thank you for being our Clean Air Ambassador. Please do everything in your power to clean up our air by going green. It is the right thing to do now and for all generations to come.

My family came to Arizona in the late 1800's. We use to see all of the stars and mountains from central Phoenix just 40 years ago. Imagine the air in another 40.
The only time we will see solar used by most is when the price becomes competitive with oil.
Tax credits with rebates for all those that want to use solar. We need this now.

Clean, green, renewable energy is the only way to go!

release/share free energy technology, we know it exists...save planet earth and humanity at the same time...thank you, thank you, thank you...

Thank you for being our ambassador for Arizona. Thank you so much.

Asthma is hereditary in our family, and it has become increasingly worse as air pollution has become the standard. Let's quit burning dirty fossil fuels and start using solar energy. It's a natural in Arizona!

I support every effort to regulate the toxic emissions from the burning of coal. We must transfer the subsidies from dirty energy (coal, oil, natural gas) to renewables.

"Distributed solar", solar electric grid-tie or stand-alone systems for every rooftop and home, is the ultimate goal for an individual's or a family's security.

Corporations can still be a large part of the profit system involved, however they will not control (own) the customer as they do now. Instead, they can make better and better products in more environmentally sound ways that free all humans from the current economic paradigm of landlord/tenant, king/serf, or energy provider/customer.

The balanced world of tomorrow, in my view, will not hold hostage those people or nations that are poor in natural resources nor will it enrichen outlandishly those that have ample resources.

All nations will still benefit from the use, sale, or trade of their own resources, however the all important and basic human need for clean electricity to provide warmth and cooling for homes and habitations can, and must , be supplied by the sun in a way that makes the user a customer of the technology only and not a "bill payer" to a energy provider or raw material-rich country forever.

It is good to have some officials that are concerned with the people more than the industries! Thank you!

Even my CAT has asthma ! Not kidding. My sinuses bother me, despite the fact that I consume a very healthy, mostly Organic foods diet. Plus, I take cleansing whole foods such as: Chlorella, Spirulina, Organic Apple Cider Vinegar and liquid Chlorophyll. Excellent to keep the body clean and toxin free ! In addition to the heavy metals and other poisons generated by coal-fired power plants... I cannot help but notice the frequent, white, grid patterns up in the skies. The stripes hang around for many hours. Obviously NOT contrails ! Don't know what our world is coming to... but I would like to say--- Thank You... for aggressively promoting that which is RIGHT... for We The People, the animals and our irreplaceable, natural environment. God Bless You and Your Endeavors. May You Have Victory for All of Us !

It's high time we pull our heads out of the sand and acknowledge that our priorities as a nation are out of order. Only healthy people, breathing clean air and drinking clean water, can build a country!

It is important to me to be able to breath clean air. As I age I need it more and more.

It is long overdue for humanity to place the health of the world before profits! Like my late mother-in-law always used to query in jest
"Did you ever see a Brink's truck following a hearse?"

Your late mother-in-law was really funny ! Thank you to her... and to you... for making me laugh ! ;-)

It is important to me because of my granddaughter and her children when she is ready to have them. It is also important for the wildlife, they too deserve to breath clean air.

Thank You!!!!!!!

We are already suffering the results of air pollution. Asthma, allergies and sinus problems are the least of our problems. But we also need to be cognisant that we need to play an active part in all this. The more electricity we consume - the more electrical gadgets we use, the greater the dangers we face. So, let's help by actively reducing our personal carbon footprints, each and every one of us. This isn't a case of "do as I say, not as I do." We need to do something as a people not just use words. Action is what is needed here, from the ground up.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

For our safety and the safety of those who follow us I implore you to put our tax dollars into renewable energy rather than pollute the air we breathe. Global climate change is upon us and we can slow it down, rather than ignore it by making the same mistakes over and over again. Please help the people to breathe clean air. Solar and wind would work miracles in the desert. Please help and put restrictions on coal burning plants such as ours.
