Every American should have access to the information that affects their health and well-being. Everyone deserves that kind of respect.

I live in a county that has three active coal-fired plants within walking distance to low and moderate-income communities. But I realized that no one in my community was providing everyday people with coal-fired plant information. I decided to become that person—proclaiming myself the people's own personal Green Czar—and I embarked on an independent crusade to create an informed population.

The results of this effort have given my community organizing an environmental twist, and now my goal is to produce an environmentally literate population of both future leaders and voters.

In addition to those three coal-fired power plants, there is an industrial manufacturing district adjacent to the poorest county in Kansas. Residents there have received a warning from the federal government about eating bottom-feeding fish. These are the kind of fish that Black and Hispanic fisherman are catching and taking home to feed to their families. But as it stands now, nobody has been providing them with this information or explaining the government warning.

Low-income residents need the tools to empower themselves and their families. The president, Congress, and EPA officials should help provide those tools by engaging the public in a conversation so people can participate in making their own clean air decisions.

All Messages: Supporting Our Clean Air Ambassadors.

It amazes me how policy makers push to cut budgets from environmental groups fighting to protect air quality and put the money towards something they know for a fact to harm life. When will it stop? How many deaths from asthma attacks need to happen, statistics of cancer related to coal fired power plants need to go up, and who profits from all this? Please help to put a stop to it.

How shortsighted are we if we care nothing about keeping the air we breathe healthy and as free of toxins as possible.
I fully agree with our clean air Ambassadors
and wish them every success in alerting us of the danger to all of us if we follow our present course of action.

I think this is a great idea

stay strong, my brother!

Friday one of our most esteemed Congresspersons assured some of us to the hilt off 1000%, that the assault on our environment will continue in the area. He gave the pointed impression that it was nothing we could do about it. I think his votes and actions shows that the will of the people mean "NOTHING", ALSO HIS CORPORATION DONATION BANKROLL says who he represents in Washington, D.C. I know Richard, and I know the FAITH that Richard takes to our nation capital, will be a message of: When it comes to odds and percentages " The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether." Fondly do we hope, fervently do we pray, that this mighty scourge of CORPORATE GREED may speedily pass away...so in faith we fight against overstated odds, and government surrender to the LUSTFUL GREED IN Washington, D.C. History is being written, and the unseal documents on this phase of Representation of the peoples wishes shall be stamped, "SHAMEFUL".

Thank you for your time, energy, and effort. Thank you for caring for people you don't even know.

I agree with Kathie G and I have always believed in the power of the few. Our representation has made it clear that are going to continue to compromise our health and well being by not investing in cleaner alternatives than coal burning power plants.

Kansas is a beautiful state and we need to do our best to keep what is left that way.

Thank you and I will be there with you in spirit as well!

Keep going strong !!!!!!!! This is what we need to have the people message carryed to those who will listien

It's heartening to know that there are fellow Kansans fighting back. With the loss of Sebelius and the government now controlled by the corporate right-wing, this fight is more important than ever. If we don't stand up to them, Kansas will become the poisoned playground for dirty energy and industrial ag.

While I can't be in D.C. in person, know that I will be there with you in spirit.

Thank you!

Please tell them like it is Richard.

Richard,
I applaud your efforts and your final commnent about families needing the tools to empower themselves is right on.
All of us need information so that we can fight the big energy companies who do not care whether or not people breathe clean air.

We love community organizers.

Thanks for all you do.

Thanks Richard - this is important work that you are doing.

I live about five miles north of the coal-fired power plant in Lawrence, KS that spews out filthy pollutants every day. Among them is sulfur dioxide. Unfortunately the summer south breezes carry this straight to my house, and I am allergic to sulfites. I often find myself short of breath and tired in the summertime and therefore wonder whether these pollutants are responsible.

It is a tragedy that any and every human being has to advocate for the survival of the human race by asking for clean air.

Hello Richard,

I live in Prairie Village, KS, and am a sustainable earth advocate. I was pleased to see the notice Earthjustice gave to your efforts. Kansas has not fared well in the coal-fired power plant fight since Governor Sebelius answered the President's call to federal service. It can only get worse with Senators Roberts, and Moran, and Congressman Yoder in office. We need help and the citizens need to vote for real statesmen and women, not the corporate lackeys that our state tends to support.

Keep up the great work!

Tobias Fritz

You can't put a price tag on clean air; and all of the super-wealthy who try to put a stop to furthering our air laws should be ashamed of themselves and ask themselves this- how can you spend all that money you've got if you can't breathe?

We are all behind you. Thank you for defending our clean air.

Keep up the good work

Richard, thanks for defending our right to breathe clean air!

Three active coal-fired plants within walking distance?

How is that even legal?

Good luck in DC, Richard!
