Laura Beaton

Title: Associate Attorney

Bar Admissions: MT

Laura grew up in Arkansas, but was drawn to the Pacific Northwest by the promise of forests full of big trees and abundant wildlife. Unfortunately, when she got to Oregon, the national forests were being razed at an alarming rate. She spent the next decade working to protect Oregon’s wild places, educating the public on environmental issues, monitoring timber sales, and climbing to the tops of the old-growth trees in those timber sales in search of elusive, protected species like the Oregon red tree vole.

With the desire to be as effective as possible in her defense of the environment, Laura attended the University of Oregon School of Law, where she co-directed the Public Interest Environmental Law Conference and graduated Order of the Coif with a certificate in Environment and Natural Resources Law. During law school, Laura interned with Cascadia Wildlands, the Western Environmental Law Center, and Earthjustice. She returned to Earthjustice’s Northern Rockies office in the fall of 2011 as an associate attorney, where she continues to advocate for clean water, clean air, and healthy ecosystems in some of the wildest places in the United States.
