Well, I didn't really know that wolves are considered endangered species in Idaho so I was surprised to read this post. Although I do like to eat burgers and other kinds of meat that are grilled on the rival griddle, I do feel sorry when I hear about animals that were killed even if I use the electric griddle often for different dishes that includes eggs or meat.
thanskssssss
Obviously they kill they're WILD ANIMALS, and i understand that wolves do kill humans on occasion because of it, but not close at all to the amount you north face outlet hunters do!! And I'm 100% sure that most of hunters do not kill to "avenge" those who were killed by wolves, but just to win the S-P-O-R-T! ridiculous to use that news post as an excuse for hunting. And no wonder wolves have a grudge against humans, if I were a wolf I would want to rip off your head too.
I am wondering what everything can be possibly involved to release all permits that allow mining companies to do all this. Are there no restrictions? EPA should prepare strict rules that avoid any harm to the landscape and surrounded nature. I hope that it will be stopped soon. dan pompa
I am so glad that I have found this your article because I have been searching for some information about various recipes from pig meat almost an hour. You helped me a lot indeed and reading this your entry I have found many new and useful information about this question. Well, I will definitely bookmark your website and wait for other useful and detailed posts like this one in the future. presentation folder printing
all of the comments posted promoting hunting are made by ignorant immature little boys and girls.
I kill stuff because I'm a man!!! I'm an American man!!! I would kill a human if it had antlers or fangs! You're a douche!
Its a very nice post thanks for posting.

Wolves don't kill for sport, except when a small pack kills 120 sheep in one night, and that was confirmed by Defenders of Wildlife.

Anybody that thinks wolves are harmless should go for a jog in Chignik Lake, Alaska.

{Suzanne Stone with Defenders of Wildlife added that in the 20 years she's been working toward ensuring healthy wolf populations, this is the first time she's heard of such a mass killing.
"I've heard of bears or mountain lions doing that, but what usually happens is the sheep panic and jump on top of one another or fall into a ditch and suffocate," Stone said. "I've never heard of any situation where wolves killed so much livestock in such a short period of time.}
This statement in the article about sheep killing is not a confirmation by Defenders of Wildlife that the wolves did the killing. Ms. Stone clearly stated that she had never heard of this behavior before. This behavior is contrary to normal wolf behavior. However, this behavior is well known and common for packs of wild dogs, or packs of domestic dogs left to run on their own.
Trophy Hunting should be " OUTLAWED" period. Man ,not other animals, is solely the cause of animal overpopulation. Man builds his houses and towns in valuable habitat to turn an almighty buck! Every " Gomer" with a rifle or Bow thinks he is entitled to go out and kill for points , trophies, overblown Ego's and then says he or she is decreasing population. So should we kill humans who overpopulate the earth and use up too many resources? Hunting for food or killing an animal for protection of you or loved ones is " Not" in the same category as TROPHY hunting.
To think that most hunters simply kill for the thrill and the sport is complete ignorance. What's worse, no single anti-hunter has ever contributed the amount of money hunting has towards conservation. When I buy a license, I protect public lands and resources and manage those that need managed. Enjoy your next car ride through wildlife habitat and when you don't hit a deer with your vehicle, you can thank a hunter.
Why I even bothered reading the bs on this page I don't know. Being a resident of Idaho I get to see whats going on first hand. You can't throw a dead cat with out hitting a wolf or a wolf kill. They need to be regulated!! You've got all of these different groups protesting hunting, logging, and mining. Yet every one of these people use wood products weather it be the house they live in or the paper they write on, or better yet the jewelry they wear, the wires in their ipods, tvs, computers or even the cars they drive contain metals that have been at some point mined from the earth we all live on. The point is they all live in the cities that are doing more damage to this world we all live in and don't take into consideration once you get away from the cities and suburbs you can see that the wildlife is doing just fine and they are more of a problem than any hunter has ever been. I look on the interstate that runs through my home and see more out of state license plates than idaho plates and they make up the majority of dumb shits hitting animals on the freeway. MORE ANIMALS ARE WASTED BY YOUR CARS THAN ALL OF THE HUNTERS IN THIS STATE. We eat the animal you just call AAA have your car towed and let somebody else get rid of the wasted animal you killed. Protest that idiots
As an Idaho resident, I COULDN'T OF SAID IT ANY BETTER
You obviously have not spent much time in the woods of idaho since the wolves were brought back.

this is A BEAUTIFUL ANIMAL NEVER SHOULD BE KEPT STUFFED ON A WALL ALL YOU HUNTERS ARE MONSTERS AND SHOULD BE PUT IN JAIL WHY IS THIS NOT A LAW TO NOT KILL THEM YOU SHOULD ALL E ASHAMED
Jacob,
When the wolf kills an Elk, is he a monster. You say no. What if the wolf kills and elk and does not eat the elk, but only kills the elk, (deer, moose, caribou etc) and just kills it for the sake of killing it? Is the Wolf a monster?
Go read the Book: Alaska's Wolf Man. Frank Glasser lived among wolves for 40 years, yes he hunted them, but he also raised them and he also used them as sled dogs. See what he has to say about wolves. Frank knew them better than anyone alive today including the Fish and Chips who claim to know all about them. If you want to educate yourself before you spout off more nonsense, you should read this book:

You say people are killers because they will hang the animal on their wall. At least he hunter utilized the wolf.
ALL YOU WOLF LOVERS NEED TO READ THIS BOOK AND WISE UP ABOUT WHAT THE WOLF IS LIKE AND HOW THE WOLF AFFECTS OTHER WILDLIFE. I PLUM GUARANTEE YOU WOULD HAVE A DIFFERENT OUTLOOK ON WHAT THE WOLF IS LIKE.
http://www.outdoorsdirectory.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=114
(From the back cover of the book) Between 1915 and 1955 adventure-seeking Frank Glaser, a latter-day Far North Mountain Man, trekked across wilderness Alaska on foot, by wolf-dog team, and eventually, by airplane. In his career he was a market hunter, trapper, roadhouse owner, professional dog team musher, and federal predator agent. A naturalist at heart, he leaned from personal observation the life secrets of moose, caribou, foxes, wolverines, mountain sheep, grizzly bears, and wolves-especially wolves.
A crack shot, self-sufficient, and wilderness wise, Glaser not only survived, but prospered in the far lonely places. Almost always alone, he survived many encounters with charging grizzly bears, some of which he had to shoot to keep from being mauled. He knew how to cope with 50 and 60 below zero temperatures, and more than once he plunged through river ice in extreme cold and survived only because of his woods know-how.
Frank Glasser was a legend in his own time, respected and admired for his skill as a woodsman and hunter by fellow sourdoughs, and by his many Eskimo friends.
"Nothing that has been written about Alaska captures so intensely the vastness, the loneliness, the natural savagery of this land as Alaska's Wolf Man. It surpasses anything that Ernest Thompson Seton or Jack London ever did and is far more real because it is actual distilled experience that cannot be contrived. This is a class that will stand tall in the literature of Alaska." Cliff Cernick, former editor of the Anchorage Daily News and The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner, and currently Alaska Editor of the Western Flyer.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It never ceases to amaze me how many idiots are out there. All you people that are against hunting or against the wolf hunt are ignorant. Wolves kill, they kill anything they can. Your dog, your cat, your goat, sheep, horse, deer, elk or even other wolves, etc. I have seen comments like, " They would not have attacked your horse if you had not been in the woods. That is their home." You say this while you sit in your home is some city somewhere, judging others like myself that choose to hunt or be outdoors. I suppose that you think hunting is cruel and heartless? Do you eat eggs or any meat of any kind, do you use dairy or any form of animal product in your diet? What about your cosmetics, shampoo or conditioner? Do you use leather goods, have leather seats in your car? There are animal by-products in many things we eat or use daily. Have your ever seen a slaughter house? I bet not. Yet we hunters that choose to actually go out spend the time and money, conditioning, scouting, etc to hunt, track and harvest our choice of meat. We are the cruel ones? We need to manage the game or they become sick or over populated. The wolf is no different. Do you people actually think they have no effect on our game population. Not to mention the money spent by hunters for conservation of the wildlife, the roads you drive on etc. Where do you think the Fish and Game get the money to operate the game department year after year. I bet not from your pocket.
Do you know that the wolf roamed the entire north american continent? They probably lived in your neighborhood once. But guess what, they don't now and do you know why? Because they were killed off because they were not wanted in the area, they were a nuisance. The concern that they may attack your animals dogs, or your kids. So maybe we should put some back in your neighborhood? You deal with it, after all its your choice to live in the city. Where once all wild animals roamed.
One lady commented that "The wolf population would be wiped out with this hunt and the deer and elk populations continue to thrive in Idaho." News flash lady, the deer and elk populations have been devistated by the wolf in Idaho. Virtually every hunter or rancher or outdoorsman I speak to have reported dismal numbers for deer and elk in Idaho. My boys and I archery hunted for two weeks and in high country that typically would see hundreds of elk to only see a measly five elk and two deer the entire time. Yet they have no effect on our populations?
Hunting is one of the top five sources of income in Idaho. It supports families that sell outdoor gear, gas, food, recreational vehicles, etc. This pays for schools, roads, etc payed for by taxes. It is our way of life as is yours in your smoggy, crowded, fast paced world you live in. Yes, I lived in Dallas and have lived that life. Its not for me.
Until you actually live in the country, live the lives of the american farmer, rancher, outdoorsman, walk in our shoes, feel the effect this would have on your income, don't judge. If you have, I apologize.
The women that was going to after the farmer. Get a life girl. America was founded on the hard working farmer. Where do you think your food comes from. Take away the farmer and we depend on other countries for our food, that would be disastrous.
The bottom line is we all have different beliefs and faiths. Just because you may be Catholic does not mean you are right. Stop being so ignorant to the real world. Load your brains before you shoot off your mouth. If the truth be known, you probably now very little about wildlife or even the wolf itself.
You should find something worth while to bitch about. Over 500,000 people die every year due to medical malpractice and prescription drugs. I don't see people picketting, or shouting about that or trying to take prescription drugs off the shelf that kill people. Why don't you protest that. Oh, but if THAT was your career or you were associated with that and we took that away, look at all the lost income for all those just trying to make a living. But thats OK!
GET A LIFE. Wake up or shut up!
YOUR A IGNORANT DOC. YOU AND YOUR BIG PROPERTIES THAT YOU THINK WE SHOULD PROTECT. SCREW YOU DOC. SCREW YOU. THESE ARE WILD ANIMALS AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT DOC, THEM PACK YOUR SHIT AND MOVE BACK TO THE CITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND DOC, SHOW ME STATISTICS AND PROOF OF YOUR CLAIM ABOUT ELK, ETC., BEING WIPED OUT BY WOLVES. YOU CAN'T AS IT IS NOT TRUE.
WIPED OUT BY HUNTERS, HUMAN NOT WOLVES DOC.
TAKE YOUR RICH ASS AND STAY IN THE CITY DOC!
No game animal has ever been brought to extinction by hunters. Poachers yes, but that isn't what we're talking about. Hunting manages wildlife, it doesn't destroy it. Hunting brings in much needed money for state. I bet I have given more to my state due to hunting and fishing fees than you ever have.
Wolves are ruining a vital resource and ignorant people such as yourself only make it worse.
Here's a link for you to check out.

WOOOO HOOOOO You go!!!!! Coming from a rancher/hunter tired of seeing the vicious sport killing carnage of unwanted relocated packs!!!! And for the lady who is bitching come say that to my face !!! I had a wolf on my porch after it enjoyed killing my daughter's registered ewe 500 feet from my house. Get this in your head the wolf was the preditor my daughter the prey. would you like me to release a crazy sport killing person on your doorstep then tell your child go out and play????? I believe in my constitutional right to potect my family and lively hood.
anybody that equates life of any kind to economic conditions is really clueless... in our capitalist society, too many things are exploited for a dollar, but given that most are natural resources that essentially belong to everybody, one individual, or a group, has no right to claim ownership... furthermore, we are not smart enough to began to comprehend the long-term implications of our actions today... factors beyond certain narrow minded individuals comprehension effect populations of wildlife... bent on their own immediate satisfaction, such people might try to recognize that humans encroach on the habitat of wildlife with sub-divisions, highways, golf courses, etc... human beings are the real problem... may be the government should authorize such a hunt... we're certainly not an endangered species, yet...
us ignorant? wolves kill but for food, hunting is not cruel and heartless hunting is important BUT there is a line to draw. We need to manage the game or they become sick or over populated wolves are no different do you people think they have no effect on our game population? your worlds exactly. They are ignorant and self centered. Since when was the game OUR? you stop sickness and overpopulation? wolves were doing that years before you, and even if they became overpopulated what would happen? More food for wolves and wolves would become more in number, but then the elk would begin to die from wolf hunts and lack of food and then the wolves would begin to die from lack of elk then elk would become numerous from lack of wolves. THIS IS A CYCLE OF NATURE IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MILLIONS OF YEARS!!!!!! I have nothing against hunting elk or deer in moderation, there are plenty of elk and deer. However there are few wolves. and you think that the deer and elk populations have been devistated? Many have been killed, but that iis because there had been an absence of wolf, and fair predator. With your rifle you can kill whatever deer you want whether it is stonger or weaker. This fucked up the gene pool. The fittest were surviving but also were some of the weaker prey. The wolf is weading out the weak. in 10 years if you left the wolves alone and hunted in moderation. so the area usually saw hundreds of deear and elk? THAT WAS NOT NATURAL!!!! you should not be seeing that many naturally but with no predator the deer/elk can flourish. I lived in idaho for much of my life in a town with less than 1000 people, hunting was important but it was replaceable. most of idaho makes its money of of farming and ranching few make a living of hunting, none a complete living. You talked about how no one pickets drugs that are bad for you and could kill you, with some drugs i agree with you they should be banned and the damn drug componies keep stuff quiet so people dont know to picket. HOWEVER many people would have died ling before the drug killed them if they did not use it
Right on! I sure hope "Doc" read this, the person that commented on 12/1/09 at 11:57 a.m. I agree there is alot of ignorance in this country, which is why it is important to educate yourself- and others. It is difficult to change misconceptions, especially when they have gone on for generations.
Thank you.
man u never kill a animal that did nothiin g to you i see if he killed your child ot somthing but it didnt
Should we wait for them to kill our children before we start regulating there movements, HELL NO if one of these animals kills my child I would not blame the animal I would blame all of you lettice heads trying to keep us from regulating them.
The Cry of the Wolf
by Cole
The cry of the wolf
echoes through pages of earthly history
a cry of seeking ever seeking
a lament falling on deathly ear.
The cry wind sweeps twisting
in rock girded canyon
hidden in branches of twisted oak
a cry of a forgotten tear.
The cry that sharply bounds
down splashing rushing torrents
surging to towering pines
telling all of enshrouded fear.
Out past the fallen woodland giant
out where now smoke of surging cities
swells over lands of forgotten sage
his call is a call desolate and sear.
I AM OUTRAGED AT THIS WOLF HUNT. HOW DARE THEY POSE WITH THE DEAD WOLVES AS IF THEY HAVE A TROPHY! SOMEHOW, SOMEWAY, I WILL AVENGE THE DEATHS OF THESE POOR WOLVES! I FEEL SO FUSTRATED BECAUSE RIGHT NOW I AM IN COLLEGE WORKING AND TRYING TO GET MY BA AND SO, PRESENTLY ICAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, I HAVE NO POWER. AS SOON AS I GRADUATE I WILL SOMEHOW GET INTO LAW AND I WILL FIGHT FOR THE SAKE OF THESE WOLVES AND THE OTHER ENDANGERED SPECIES! I WILL FIGHT FOR THEM AND NO ONE IS GOING TO GET IN MY WAY! I WILL FIGHT AGAINST MY ENEMIES WHICH ARE THE HUNTERS, FARMERS, REPUBLICANS, EVEN CONGRESS! SO, IF YOU'RE READING THIS BEWARE MY ENEMIES, BEWARE, THIS GIRL IS COMING AND NO ONE IS GOING TO STOP HER! LONG LIVE THE WOLVES, AND THE OTHER ENDANGERED SPECIES, YOUR DELIVER IS COMING.
I am so disgusted by this site, and those of you who stand in judgment, as if YOU know better than anyone how to manage wildlife.
First: Tom, if you don't like this country, GO BACK TO EUROPE. You can live there on your silver cloud, but don't forget who it was that twice rescued Europe from the grasp of lunatics. You should be shamed to disrespect those who have lain down their lives for your right to run your suck. I should like nothing better than to tell you to stand among the headstones at Arlington National Cemetery and say that this isn't a nation of hero's. Left up to me, I'd drag your sorry, disrespectful arrogant A$$ to the nearest airport, and stuff you on the first plane bound for Iraq. Then we'd see if you decide to change your mind about America.
Hunters are true conservationists, those of us who hunt to feed families or for the satisfaction of a fair chase hunt against nature know something. We don't simply kill for the sake of killing, we kill animals as part of the natural world. Humans, just like animals belong in nature. I hunt and fish not because I want to kill things, I hunt because it feeds my family, and because I like to. I eat what I kill, and I respect the animals who give their life to sustain my own.
WELL SAID SIR, I APPLAUD YOU IN YOUR SPEAKING, KEEP IT UP
Aaron that is, not these nut jobs that are scared to say there name
Thank you for your kind words, sir.
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THOSE "BRAVE" HUNTERS IN A REAL WAR WHERE THEY WOULD PISS IN THEIR OWN PANTS.
ITS SAD WHEN YOU SEE HOW MANY UNEDUCATED PEASANTS LIVE IN THE USA. THEY WANT TO DESTROY ANYTHING TO "FIX" THEIR INCOME. ITS SAD THAT THEY HAVE NO MORE EDUCATION WHICH WOULD DRIVE THEM TO UNDERSTAND THE BALANCE OF THIS ECOSYSTEM. NOW I'M GLAD BEING A EUROPEAN!
tom you should just leave this site alone and go back to europe
Then take your a$$ back to Europe and for the record I HAVE been in a real war.
MMMMMMM Wolf tastes like chicken.
WOW, I will tell you what, I am embarrassed to be reading this blog ,but since I am here I will state facts, Ten years ago I would loose about 8 to 10 cows a year to weather, lions, native wolves, and coyotes, It doesn't sound like much ,but it hurts my family's income. That is a part of nature taking its course, we accepted that part of life when we made our decision to stay at the family ranch that my grandfather built 80 years ago, Last winter alone we lost 48 PAIRS, 44 PAIRS to wolf attack, That leaves 4 PAIRS to the weather and sickness. None to the coyotes , lions, because with these Canadian Wolves here the coyotes and lions leave. Now in case you can not do math that means I lost 96 cows and calves just during the winter months, 88 cows and calves to wolves, Now that hurts a lot.... Only a few of these kills kills were confirmed by the fish and wildlife because some of them were not found quick enough or got snowed on or there wasn't enough evidence to convict the wolves. Everyone keeps talking about the elk herds dwindling , and they are in fact less elk , what do you think happens when you introduce all these predators to the woods, but the ranchers lively hood should mean something!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND IT DOESN'T TO YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Learn your Idaho history, the wolves took over this country in the late thirties, men like my grandpa stood up for there right to ranch and farm, with the states help, yes the same state you live in now, they trapped, poisoned, and shot them down to a manageable number , SO THEY COULD SURVIVE !!!!!!!!! Just like us now need to do.
Like it or not, these animals are not native to this country , they are native to a country that is not nearly as populated as our own. So if we can not send them home , lets control there activities.
Jared, I'm not sure what you mean by "like it or not, these animals are not native to this country" but there were an estimated 250,000 wolves in North America (and living well off of Bison and Deer) before Europeans began populating North America. They are estimated to have migrated to North America as far back as 750,000 years ago. Unfortunately, when we nearly wiped out the Bison here in the US, what did the wolves have left to eat but livestock?
"Convict the wolves" is another mysterious statement that I don't understand.
I'm getting so tired of Americans being so selfish and short sighted about the world around them. "I want my hamburger! Kill those wolves!" That's what you people sound like. A population of 250,000 wolves reduced to a couple of thousand. What more do you want???
I dont know how to comment to you, I would like to feed my family, raise my kids, and live a prosperos life on the ranch that my ancestors built, with out being afraid a wolf will snatch my child out of my yard because he is hungary because there are not any bison and elk left to eat, and I dont know what to say about the population 750,000 years ago because if you read the good lords scriptures you will find the truth about the age of the earth and the animals in it.
You're funny, you probably will start talking about how dinosaurs are a myth as well huh? Yeah, they must have been here 2000 years ago, but scientists have been lying to us.
This topic is really sad. Our doctors are sport killing every day. 50 million babies so far. Watch a partial birth abortion video ( if you dare) and see how humane that is. Wake up! Save the baby whales first? How about a stupid little delta minnow? Farmers are going hungry. The drought hasn't helped. But yiu have made it worse. The facts are in the polar caps ar not melting. We need to fix us first. Ok you can get back to your silly little argument.
To the anonymous poster who thinks that everyone should drop all environmental causes and join his/hers to stop abortion....
There are numerous problems and issues in the world that need to be addressed and thank god because we live in the US of A we have freedom of speech and can make our own choices - in some areas anyway. People are drawn to various issues and causes for varying reasons. One person cannot possibly take on every single issue in the world. But we can each take on a few that we are passionate about. Just because someone cares about the issue at hand does not mean they do not care about other issues. When people compare the saving of a species to being pro-abortion, it just does not make sense. The two issues are completely separate. Whether someone is pro-choice or anti-abortion does not necessarily affect their views on environmental issues. I think people like you think that anyone who advocates for an environmental issue must be a liberal, pro-choice, and anti-Christian. That assumption is first of all ignorant and unfair. Secondly, if you are so Christian, conservative, and pro-life - then I would think your god, church, and conscience would tell you that any killing for fun or sport is WRONG. You take on your issues and I'll take on mine. If you don't agree with saving ALL LIFE, then take your energies to your anti-abortion protests and leave those us who LOVE ALL LIFE and want to SAVE ALL LIFE to do our own work thank you.
And it's not even an argument anymore - it's accepted fact that yes, the ice caps are melting and yes, we are in a period of global warming. Get up to date.
PAIN & SUFFERING IS UNIVERSAL AMONG ALL SENTIENT BEINGS...
a truly compassionate human being cares for ALL of Earth's creatures.
If this is based by your religious belief (s), that is YOUR PERSONAL CHOICE... judgement is not meant to be made by you.
Every being on Earth is here for a reason, it is not for your to pick and choose which LIFE is more important.
P.S. If you feel SO strongly about saving unborn human babies, then maybe you should be out in the world EDUCATING young people about the BASICS of human anatomy by lobbying for SEX EDUCATION TO BE TAUGHT in public schools (instead of being misinformed).
And while you are 'there' ACTUALLY MAKING A DIFFERENCE in people's lives, give a SEX ED. 101 on how to use BIRTH-CONTROL.
I am a proud owner of several wolf dogs. They are nothing like people believe.
If you do some research, you will find that wolves keep the balance of nature in check. As far as you hunters, I think if you have a desire to kill, join our troops overseas. Then you can kill to your hearts desire, on a level playing ground.
I think we should sterilize humans. That is a bold statement, but look at the mess we are in because our population is not in balance! We should worry about finding ways to get people back to work, cleaning up political corruption, and stopping illegal immigrants from invading America. Not killing wolves.
Thank you, EarthJustice for taking a stand and helping to keep the balance of nature in check.
I support you 100 %. The rest of you that think we should kill wolves, work on something positive that will get our human balance in check!!!!!
Sad indeed, especially when you throw subjects like this into the mix where they certainly do not belong. And sport? Let's understand the concept of sport or, I think, more accurately trophy hunting. The pack of wolves (?? are you sure, not dogs? were you there?) that killed and then left 4 sheep in an earlier post were not "sport" hunting. There are many reasons why wild wolves behave the way they do. If you weren't there, you would have no clue as to why the wolves (?) left their kills. They are opportunists and will stalk the slow, silly animals you insist on bringing into their habitat, but sport? I think not. Did they leave to go and get a camera? or perhaps make an appointment with the local taxidermists for the heads? I agree with the statement that we have to fix ourselves first. Perhaps the sterilization option proposed earlier for the wolves?
