PBS documentary looks at Obama administration’s handling of gray wolves

Update: You can learn more about Earthjustice's work to save wolves (including an interactive timeline) in our newly updated campaign page.

The wolf lifts its muzzle and—as its breath flows like smoke into the crisp air —you hear the sound of wilderness, crying out from the TV set.

This image alone is worth a visit to your local PBS channel, starting tonight (Feb. 26), to view a documentary examining how wolves in the northern Rockies have been affected by the Obama administration's relaxation of regulations protecting wolves. To see when the program can be viewed in your area, go here.

Earthjustice attorney Doug Honnold, who has spent much of his career working to protect northern gray wolves and grizzly bears in the Rockies, figures prominently in the film. He carefully describes natural and man-made threats to both species, and makes clear his disappointment with Obama's Sec. of Interior Ken Salazar for signing off on a Bush administration decision to stop protecting wolves under the Endangered Species Act.

Not a rant on behalf of environmentalists, the film explores how the current administration is handling the northern gray wolf, and, by combining powerful video of wolves acting wild in the wilderness, lets viewers reach their own conclusions.

Wolves also are the cover story in the March issue of National Geographic magazine.

Anybody who is educated about ecology in Science knows that HUMAN INTERVENTION IS WORST ENEMY OF ECOLOGICAL BALANCE.
Where I was born and raised, we didn't have hunters and I never heard about over population of wildlife until moved to America.
Hunting actualy increase population of wild animals because population of wild animals is controled by availability of food and space, weather, etc.
How many of you read Hunting Myth?

Yes, hunting is based on political interest and NOT scientific interest.

To the anonymous Wussy from Michigan's Upper Peninsula: Perhaps you should relocate to New York's Lower East Side. I am sure the hoodlums there will take care of you in the manner in which you deserve, and wish for the beautiful wildlife in which you mentally masturbate over destroying. You don't deserve or belong amongst the wildlife and countryside of America. You, and the 2 posters above you, are the human excrement that moved you and your ancestors fat, useless and tired butts onto Native American and Wolf Country and STOLE from those far better and deserving of life than you. sesli

Save a herd of Elk every year, Shoot 1 wolf.

This is NOT our native wolf. This is an introduced, invasive species that is no longer acceptable in the lower 48. The facts of Eco terrorism are apparent and in our faces. This species was illegally put on the ESL.

You want the Truth surrounding this species(canis lupus occidentalis)? Find the truth at websites like saveelk.com, huntwolves.com, lobowatch.com, and there are many, many more. These are the folks that have first hand experience with wolves.

About the losers whom are so miserable that they cannot co-exist with the natural world:

What is the opposite of "Tree Hugger?"

"Tree Killer"

Whose side are you on?

YOU ARE THE ONE WHO DOES NOT BELONG HERE, and the day is coming when you will lose all that you and your worthless ancestors STOLE.
THIS is NOT your land. YOU do NOT belong.

Got it?

The deer hunters in Minnisota, Michigan, and Wisconsin have three fameous words shoot shovel and shut up. That is exactly what we do when we shoot a wolf where killing a wolf is illegal. We don't care anymore enough is enough shoot them all.

Gee, Hey, I would love to hunt your dumb ass all over ,Minnisota, Michigan, and Wisconsin, What the hell is the matter with you if its illegal and your are still doing it then you need to go to jail.. Hey, and all so that would be a disaster if you shot all the wolves, Have you heard of the balance of Nature.

Leave it up to deer hunters just wanting more for themselves..

BLAH BLAH BLAH SHUT THE FRICK UP RED NECK! I HATE MICHIGAN AND THE RED NECKS THAT HATE WOLVES WHO LIVE HERE!

I would gladly replace the deer heads in my living room with wolf heads. Save a thousand deer shoot a wolf.

Please Please Please help me save bambi by shooting a wolf you will save thousands of bambi's

You claim that you have 160,000 tree hugging followers and probably 159999 have never seen a wolf in the wild. I live in wolf country in Michigan's Upper Penninsula and have wolves right in my backyard. I have a loaded gun in my home and will shoot every wolf that crosses my property. You idiots have the same philosophy wolves are good as long as they are not in my back yard. The problem with organizations like yours is that you are only organized for $$$$$. So go hug your cuddly wolves because when the lead flies they won't be so cuddly anymore.

It could be why they are in your back yard, it was THEIR HOME think about it!!!!

Frankie, Thought you might be interested in watching this.

Also to "Anonymous" from the Upper Michigan Peninsula, I happen to have seen several wolves in the wild, and although I knew this had to be taken into consideration as I took my dogs hiking in Alaska, I knew I would be no less loving of the wolves as I would a grizzly or mountain lion if we had a negative run in.

We must co-exist, black, white, woman man, wolf, grizzly eagle and you.
