Water Resources at Stake: Delaware River Basin, drinking water source for the most state residents

To date, no shale gas reserves have been identified in Delaware. But the drinking water for most of the state’s residents comes from the Delaware River Basin – where fracking for gas is being considered in Pennsylvania. Given Pennsylvania’s losing track record of protecting against spills and other industrial accidents, Delaware residents are understandably nervous about seeing fracking happen in their watershed.

Below is a map of some of the high profile incidents ("fraccidents") related to the country's gas drilling boom that have already occurred in and around Delaware. Click on any fraccident to learn more.
