Litigation could alter future of California pesticide; county stakeholders seek consensus.

  Summary:  Alameda County Superior Court Judge Frank Roesch is currently considering a lawsuit over whether methyl iodide should be subject to the stringent review standards of California Environmental Quality Act or more lenient Department of Pesticide Regulation rules. The Department of Pesticide Regulation approved the highly toxic and carcinogenic methyl iodide for use by California growers without considering alternatives.
