President-elect Barack Obama announced today he is appointing former EPA Chief Carol Browner to serve as a special coordinator for climate and energy. The following is a statement from Earthjustice President Trip Van Noppen:

“Earthjustice applauds today’s announcement of Carol Browner to serve as our country’s first-ever climate and energy czar. President-elect Obama could not have made a better choice.

“Carol Browner is a dedicated public official who has a long career of working to improve the nation’s environmental health.

“After eight years of global warming denial by the current administration, she is just the right person to help put our nation on the path to both solving global warming and providing us all a clean energy future.”
