The Louisiana Shrimp Association was founded in 2002. It is a non profit organization formed by commercial shrimpers throughout the state of Louisiana. Membership consist of commercial shrimp fishermen, wholesale and retail seafood dealers, state wide merchants, and individuals that are concerned about the harm being done to the
domestic seafood industry by imported shrimp.
Their goal is to incorporate the participation of everyone involved in the shrimp industry, and to preserve the culture and heritage of the traditional Louisiana shrimpe, extending to all United States shrimpers.
