The Professional Wilderness Outfitters Association was started in the early 1960's to focus on wilderness related issues in Montana. All members are required to have a minimum amount of pack and riding stock, camp equipment commensurate with the stock, specific experience requirements, operate in a designated Wilderness area, and meet other standards. The Association works closely with the Forest Service and the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Department to preserve the wilderness, its fish and wildlife. The Association wants to share this unique part of our state and heritage with those who would appreciate it. The goal is to provide an unforgettable experience that will be one of the highlights of your life. Accommodations include lodges and cabins with all the modern amenities to lodges and cabins with no electricity to tents (some with heating stoves) in the wilderness. Meals are usually served family style.
