Melanie Kay joined Earthjustice in the fall of 2009 after a few years in private practice in San Francisco, California. Melanie graduated from Dartmouth College in 2000 with a degree in Earth Sciences, and went on to the University of Montana in Missoula for a Master's degree in Geology with an emphasis on environmental geochemistry in 2002. Still not ready to face employment, Melanie opted for more school and obtained a law degree from Berkeley Law (Boalt Hall) in 2006. After law school, Melanie clerked for the Honorable Proctor Hug, Jr. on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in Reno, Nevada. When not in the office, Melanie can usually be found hiking, snowshoeing, running, skiing, or escaping to embark on international travel adventures.
