Aaron Stemplewicz

Aaron Stemplewicz graduated from Temple Law School in 2011 and joined Earthjustice in May of 2019 as a senior attorney in the Clean Energy and Coal programs. His work focuses on breaking down barriers to clean energy in various federally regulated wholesale electricity markets. In his career, he has brought and argued cases before the D.C. Circuit Court of appeals, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, the D.C. Federal District Court, the Eastern District Court of Pennsylvania, and the Pennsylvania Environmental Hearing Board.

Nick Thorpe

Nick Thorpe is based in Washington, D.C., as the Climate & Energy Program Associate. Previously, Nick was a Litigation Assistant for the Clean Energy Program, supporting the team on cases at the national and state level — at public utility commissions, and in state and federal courts — to advance clean energy deployment and transition to a 100% clean energy future.

Matt Vespa

Based out of San Francisco, Matt Vespa works to help dismantle the fossil fuel industry by rapidly decarbonizing California. Matt’s work includes successfully opposing new proposed gas plants and pipelines, exposing gas utility obstruction of climate progress, and advocating for policies to transition away from gas combustion in buildings to safer, healthy all-electric homes.

Al Luna

Mario Alfonso Luna (“Al Luna”) is a supervising litigation paralegal for the Clean Energy Program based in Washington D.C. Along with Nick Thorpe, Al supports the amazing Clean Team on cases at the national and state level. Al graduated from Columbia University in the City of New York with a degree in Political Science and Sustainable Development. In his senior year, he helped develop the Climate Change Curriculum for the New York City Urban Park Rangers Natural Classroom Program.
