Today, the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources voted on the nomination of Laura Daniel-Davis to serve as Department of the Interior Assistant Secretary for Lands and Mineral Management. After the committee vote, Earthjustice Vice President of Policy and Legislation Marty Hayden issued the following statement:
“From addressing the drivers and impacts of the climate crisis to protecting the critical habitats of numerous wildlife species, Laura Daniel-Davis possesses the skill set, expertise, and vision to ensure our public lands and waters are used in the best possible way for all of us. As our public lands and waters face a myriad of challenges, we need someone with a proven track record of success to oversee these Interior agencies that will play an important role in the administration’s response to the climate crisis. Laura Daniel-Davis has the experience and qualifications to lead Interior’s lands and minerals agencies to tackle climate change, and we urge the full Senate to swiftly confirm her.”
