Earthjustice Statement on FERC CP2 Approval
CP2’s climate and health harms are not in the public interest

Today, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) approved the construction and operation of CP2 LNG, which would export more liquefied methane gas than any U.S. terminal ever approved.
Moneen Nasmith, senior attorney at Earthjustice, released the following statement in response:
“FERC’s decision-making on gas projects is wildly out-of-step with the realities of the climate crisis and environmental injustices. FERC continues to put the Gulf and its communities at enormous health, safety, and environmental risk while locking in decades of fossil fuel use abroad. Approving CP2 writes off the harms caused to communities on the frontlines of gas infrastructure and does not serve any public interest.”
