Earthjustice is endorsing the Electric Vehicle (EV) Freedom Act, introduced today by Representatives Andy Levin (D-MI) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). The following is a statement from Earthjustice associate legislative representative Athena Motavvef:

“The Electric Vehicle Freedom Act would open and diversify access to electric vehicles across our country. If we’re going to have a real shot at stemming the impact of the climate crisis, we need to ditch fossil fuels, pivot to 100% clean energy, and achieve zero emissions. Making EVs accessible to all people is an important step towards that goal. We’re proud to endorse this forward-looking legislation.”

The bill proposes establishing a network of electric charging stations alongside public roads in a bid to encourage the adoption of EVs by the wider public and lower vehicle emissions. The EV Freedom Act aligns with Earthjustice’s work to achieve 100% clean energy and zero emissions nationally in an effort to combat the climate crisis.
