Earthjustice President Abigail Dillen released a statement today in support of the Dream Act.

“Earthjustice applauds Senator Durbin as he introduces the Dream Act in furtherance of a just, equitable, and humane immigration system. And we stand solidly behind our partners who are on the front lines of this fight.

“The United States, particularly immigrants and the families of immigrants, are still grappling with the last administration’s deeply harmful immigration policies that were rooted in racist, xenophobic, and anti-immigrant thinking. Many are still in pain over the brutal separation of families, the Muslim ban, cruel detention policies, and attempts to end Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) for those undocumented people who arrived in this country as children.

“Now, with the Senate’s introduction of the Dream Act, we’re seeing a greatly needed change in direction, along with President Joe Biden’s efforts to pause deportations, reunify families, end funding of the border wall, and commit to comprehensive immigration reform.”
