Earthjustice Statement on Passage of Government Funding Bill
After months of unnecessary disarray and numerous fiscal cliffs, Congress has finally passed a government funding bill

Today, the U.S. Senate passed a first round of appropriations funding to prevent a government shutdown. After passage, Earthjustice Vice President of Policy and Legislation Raúl García issued the following statement:
“The health and environmental crises of our time require our government leaders to prioritize our climate, health, and ecosystems over destructive political gamesmanship. After months of unnecessary disarray and numerous fiscal cliffs, Congress has finally passed a government funding bill. We thank Democratic Senate and House Leadership as well as congressional appropriators for holding the line and avoiding the inclusion of divisive, extremist, and destructive policy riders.
“The funding levels in this bill are not at the levels needed to fully address some of our most pressing crises impacting us. We will keep up the pressure on Congress for FY25 to adequately resource the government and fully funding federal agencies to fight climate change, meaningfully address environmental injustices, and combat biodiversity loss.”
