Today, over 170 climate, conservation, and justice organizations sent a letter to Senate, House, and Agriculture Committee leaders urging them to avoid the inclusion of anti-environmental riders in this year’s Farm Bill reauthorization. The previous Farm Bill expired in September 2023, and the reauthorization has repeatedly been derailed by a lack of bipartisan interest to negotiate and continued efforts to attach policy riders that are detrimental to farm communities.

“As it stands, H.R. 8467 slashes funding to climate-smart programs, weakens bedrock environmental protections, and strips laws protecting communities’ public health,” wrote the groups. “We appreciate your attention to these matters, and thank you for championing our nation’s farmers, families, and frontline communities as you reach a final agreement on the Farm Bill that rejects these attacks.”
