Trump’s MAHA Commission Report Offers No Solutions, Leaves Kids Exposed to Toxics
While claiming to promote health, the Trump administration removes protections from toxic chemicals in food and water

The Trump administration today released its second Make America Healthy Again Commission (MAHA) report, which mirrors a draft report leaked last month. The draft report drew widespread criticism for bowing to chemical industry pressure and failing to recommend any meaningful actions to protect children and families from toxic chemicals. For its part, the final report calls for fast-tracking more dangerous chemicals to the marketplace, from pesticides to sunscreen ingredients, while masking an agenda that endangers the very children it claims to protect.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration has been systematically dismantling scientific health research, and public health agencies, while denying the public access to basic information, credible peer-reviewed studies, and meaningful opportunities for input, leaving families exposed to pesticides and other toxic chemicals in food and water.
Patrice Simms, Earthjustice Vice President of Litigation for Healthy Communities, issued the following statement:
“Trump’s MAHA Commission claims it wants a healthier nation, yet at every turn the Trump administration dismantles safety agencies responsible for protecting our health, and guts protections that keep pesticides out of our food, and forever chemicals out of our water. Only corporations profit from this scheme, while families, especially children, will pay the price with cancer and learning disabilities. What we need is stronger health safeguards, not political theater, to make sure every child grows up safe and healthy.”
