Challenging EPA, Monsanto Over the Crop-Damaging Pesticide “XtendiMax”

Public interest organizations are representing farmers and conservationists in a federal lawsuit against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Monsanto Company, challenging EPA’s approval of Monsanto’s new “XtendiMax” pesticide. XtendiMax is Monsanto’s version of dicamba, an old and highly drift-prone weed-killer.

Exxon Mobil Is Fighting To Keep Its Dangerous Chemicals In Children’s Toys

“As a political force, kids are no match for one of the world’s biggest chemical companies, and they’ll suffer for the lack of clout. While the CPSC fails to finalize its own rule, more and more kids are exposed to phthalates. The inaction 'speaks to the power of Exxon to frighten federal agencies away from doing their jobs,' as Earthjustice’s [Attorney Eve] Gartner put it.”

EPA Bans 72 Chemicals From Pesticides, Unlikely to Affect Industry

Yana Garcia, Associate Attorney, Earthjustice: “EPA has recognized for years that consumers and users of pesticide products need more information about product ingredients in order to keep themselves and families safe, and in order to make better choices about whether to buy a particular product, and when and where to use it if they do. But EPA took action to remove these 72 ingredients because they are no longer in use. We hope that EPA can continue its efforts to remove ingredients in pesticides that it knows are toxic and still in use in hundreds of products across the country.”
