Water Resources at Stake: Delaware River Basin, drinking water source for 3 million state residents

To date, no shale gas reserves have been identified in New Jersey. But the drinking water for millions of New Jerseyans comes from the Delaware River Basin – where fracking for gas is being considered. Which mean residents of the most densely populated state in the country have a lot to lose if an accident happens in frack-friendly Pennsylvania. Another reason New Jersey residents are up in arms about gas development: proposed gas pipelines that would crisscross the state and could help pave the way for a massive overseas export of gas from the Northeast.
