Today, the U.S. Senate approved President Biden’s three nominees to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

In response, Jill Tauber, Vice President of Litigation for Climate & Energy at Earthjustice, released the following statement:

“We look forward to working with the new commissioners to ensure that we have an affordable and reliable grid that can support the clean energy transition that’s underway. Now that vacancies have been filled, FERC must double down on its work to accelerate the expansion of transmission infrastructure and the connection of renewables to the grid. FERC must also evaluate and weigh the full impact of gas projects on communities, consumers, and the environment, and center environmental and economic justice in its decision-making. The decisions FERC makes now will determine how quickly the U.S. transitions to a clean energy economy and meets its climate and environmental justice commitments.”
