As Director of Enforcement at Earthjustice, Laura Thoms leads strategic enforcement initiatives to protect communities by holding polluters accountable under federal environmental laws.

Laura works to pursue high-impact cases under statutes such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and RCRA, with a focus on protecting community health and advancing social justice.

Prior to Earthjustice, Laura spent 19 years at the Department of Justice, bringing enforcement cases across the United States under every major pollution control statute. Her experience includes guiding complex matters involving air and water pollution, hazardous waste, and emerging environmental challenges. At the Department of Justice, Laura received many awards for her work, including the Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service, multiple EPA Gold Medals for Exceptional Service, and the Arthur S. Flemming Award for outstanding federal employees.

Laura graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School and Duke University.
