Michelle Fein is a senior attorney with Earthjustice’s Environmental Enforcement team.

Prior to joining Earthjustice, Michelle maintained her own practice, in collaboration with other solo practitioners, developing and litigating citizen suits on behalf of nonprofits and communities, including Clean Air Act mobile and stationary source enforcement and industry-wide compliance investigations. She also assisted communities in Utah combating the expansion of a large copper mine and opposing new open pit mining in the Salt Lake City area, among other community-based efforts.

Before opening her own practice, she litigated at the Natural Resources Defense Council, co-leading the Newark Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) lead-in-water case, investigating the notorious Parchman prison for Clean Water Act and SDWA violations, and supporting litigation to protect the Northeast and Utah national monuments.

She clerked for two judges in the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah. She is a graduate of the Northeastern University School of Law (2015) and the University of Pennsylvania (2010).
