Ben Beach is a senior attorney with Earthjustice’s Right To Zero Hub, working to advance the Right To Zero campaign in cities and states across the country. He develops model policies to bring about electrification in the transportation, buildings and industrial sectors.
Ben brings over two decades of experience as legal counsel to community-based campaigns for environmental, economic and racial justice. He has supported successful efforts to establish transformative policies and agreements in waste and recycling, warehousing and logistics, economic development, construction, and housing.
Prior to joining Earthjustice, Ben served as Legal Director for PowerSwitch Action, a national network of local organizing groups — and before that, as a Staff Attorney at Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, where he focused on community economic development
Ben received his J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he was a Root-Tilden-Kern Public Interest Law Scholar. After law school, Ben served as a law clerk to a U.S. District Court judge in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Bowdoin College.
Ben has published articles and reports on state preemption, local organizing strategies, community benefits agreements, community economic development, inclusionary housing, and green construction jobs. He has taught community economic development law at UCLA School of Law.
He is admitted to practice law in California.
