Laurie Williams is a Deputy Managing Attorney in Earthjustice’s Clean Energy Program, where she helps lead our grid decarbonization strategy in state-level public utilities commissions.

Prior to joining Earthjustice, Laurie served as Director of Sierra Club’s Beyond Coal Campaign, the nation’s largest not-for-profit grassroots campaign to advance the transition away from fossil-powered generation to a more affordable and equitable clean grid. Before taking that role, Laurie spent over a decade as an attorney in Sierra Club’s Environmental Law Program, litigating before PUCs across the central U.S. Laurie also served as Energy and Natural Resources Policy Advisor to Governor John Hickenlooper of Colorado from 2016-2017. She also worked as an associate at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld in their Washington, D.C., office.

Laurie obtained her JD from the University of Michigan Law School (magna cum laude), where she was the co-chair of the Environmental Law Society, and her B.A. (cum laude) from Princeton University.
