Earthjustice offers comprehensive, fully paid benefits to all staff who work at least 20 hours per week. Coverage is also available to an employee’s spouse, domestic partner, or child (up to age 26) with the employee paying a portion of the monthly premium based on a salary-tiered contribution plan. Benefits coverage will begin the 1st day of the month following the employee’s start date.

Health & Wellness

Comprehensive Medical Plans

Employees may choose a HealthComp Blue Shield PPO or EPO plan. In addition, staff in CA, CO, D.C., or WA may choose a Kaiser HMO plan. Staff in Hawaiʻi may choose an HMSA plan option.

Employees also have the choice of opting out of the medical plan and/or the dental and vision plans for themselves and/or eligible dependents and receive reimbursement.

Health Advocate

Helps staff navigate their insurance and billing.

Delta Dental PPO Plan

Offers an annual maximum benefit of $2,500. In addition, for adults and children, it provides a lifetime orthodontia benefit of $2,000.

Claremont’s Employee Assistance Program

Includes 8 free counseling sessions per year per issue plus child/elder care referrals, and adoption assistance. Available for staff and members of their household.

Carrot Family Planning & Fertility Network Resources

Provides valuable resources and education for family-forming services (e.g., adoption and IVF).

VSP Vision Plan

Covers an exam and eye glass lens. Frames, contacts, non-prescription sunglasses, or blue light filtering glasses have a $200 annual allowance.

Modern Health

Offers 6 free counseling sessions and 8 free coaching sessions for staff and their dependents, plus unlimited access to Circles, which provides group sessions led by a therapist/coach, skill building workshops, and listen & learn sessions.

Bright Horizons

Offers up to 10 days of subsidized child and/or adult & elder care.

Financial Wellbeing

Newport Group 403(b) Retirement Savings Plan

Employees may participate right away. Earthjustice will contribute 3.5% of the staff’s salary starting on their 1-year anniversary.

On the staff’s 2-year anniversary, Earthjustice will contribute 9% of staff’s salary or 10% if the staff is making a voluntary contribution of at least 3% of their annual salary.

Contributions vest immediately.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Allows staff to set aside up to $3,200 pre-tax dollars annually to pay for eligible medical care expenses and/or up to $5,000 pre-tax dollars annually to pay for eligible dependent care expenses.

Commuters can set aside up to $315 per month to pay for commuting expenses and up to $315 per month for parking.

Life, AD&D, and Disability Insurance

Earthjustice provides life and AD&D insurance at a flat amount of $200,000. Employees can purchase additional life insurance and AD&D, up to $500,000 for themself and up to $250,000 for their spouse. Child life and AD&D coverage are also available.

In the event that an employee is disabled beyond 90 days, Earthjustice provides long-term disability benefits through UNUM, which will be paid at 60% of the employee’s weekly earnings, up to a max of $15,000 per month.

Time Off

Holidays & Year-End Closure

All eligible employees receive 15 paid holidays per year. This includes a year-end closure between December 25 and January 1. In addition, staff will receive 2 days of civic engagement leave, 2 floating holidays, and 1 birthday holiday per year.

Bereavement Leave

Staff are eligible for up to 20 days of bereavement leave per calendar year for the passing of a loved one.

Vacation

Employees accrue up to 15 days of vacation per year for the first 5 years. The accrual rate increases to 20 days per year from years 6–10, and then 25 days at the beginning of their 11th year. Part-time staff accrue on a prorated basis.

Leave of Absence

Staff are eligible for Medical or Family Leave after 6 months of service. Earthjustice offers paid benefits of up to 16 weeks for both types of leave.

Sick Leave

Full-time staff receive 12 sick days per year (prorated to the hire date during the first year). Sick leave may accumulate from year to year. Part-time staff accrue on a prorated basis.

Sabbatical

Staff with 10 years of continuous service are eligible to receive up to 6 weeks of fully paid sabbatical leave.

Discounts offered through North Face, Patagonia, PrAna, Simms, ExpertVoice, and Keen footwear, as well as voluntary pet insurance with Nationwide and student loan refinancing with SoFi.
