Today, President Joe Biden nominated Rachel Bloomekatz to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Bloomekatz has a long history of public service and is the first public interest environmental lawyer nominated to the federal bench. In response, Earthjustice Legislative Director of the Access to Justice Program Coby Dolan issued the following statement of support:

“Rachel Bloomekatz possesses the experience, legal credentials, and passion for justice that every judge should have upon assuming the federal bench. As a public interest lawyer with a history of working on environmental matters, she has a unique understanding of the important role the federal court system plays in ensuring that everyone, including the most vulnerable, has access to justice. At this critical moment where so many of our fundamental rights are at stake, we need judges in her mold who understand the difference between science and politics and will make decisions based on the law and settled precedent. We are confident that Bloomekatz meets all these qualifications and will be a welcome addition to the federal judiciary.”
