Tuesday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Transportation announced new fuel efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions standards for American cars. The standards provide for new cars on U.S. roads to average 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025, and will reduce the levels of dangerous carbon pollution from auto emissions.
