Leslie Kim Williams, an entrepreneur and retired attorney with deep involvement in environmental nonprofit work, has agreed to join the Earthjustice Board of Trustees.
“I have a strong sense of justice, and care deeply about the environment,” Williams said. “Earthjustice caught my attention in its original incarnation as the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund, and because of your wonderful tagline ‘Because the Earth Needs a Good Lawyer.’”
Williams, a Wellesley College and Harvard Law School Graduate, was born in Seoul, South Korea. She currently serves on the boards of Riverkeeper and the Food and Environmental Reporting Network.
“We are so pleased to welcome Leslie to the Earthjustice Board of Trustees,” said Earthjustice President Trip Van Noppen. “She has a deep understanding of our work and the value of legal enforcement in ensuring protection of the environment and environmental justice.”
Williams retired from her law practice to raise her daughter in the '90s. She has been involved in entrepreneurial and nonprofit activities ever since.
“The fact that Earthjustice exists and is able to provide deserving organizations with effective legal services is invaluable,” she said. “The Earth needs someone to speak on its behalf, and on occasion, litigate on its behalf and even the odds.”
