In response to President Trump’s infrastructure plan, Raul Garcia, Earthjustice Senior Legislative Counsel, issued the following statement:
“The research behind the dangerous, wasteful Trump infrastructure proposal is as flawed as fake news.
“The White House is using the Anderson Bridge project in Boston as an argument to ‘return decision-making authority to the state and local communities’. The problem with this example is that in this case it was requirements from state and local authorities, including the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the Massachusetts Historical Commission and the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, that slowed the project. There is no evidence that federal laws that protect health and the environment contributed to the delays with this project.
“It’s time for the Trump administration to come to the table with a real infrastructure plan, not one based on lies that will only line the pockets of wealthy corporations at the expense of public health.”
