President-elect Joe Biden is expected to name Jennifer Granholm to lead the Department of Energy (DOE). Granholm is the former Governor of Michigan and a senior research fellow at the Berkeley Energy and Climate Institute.
The following is a statement from Jill Tauber, Earthjustice’s Vice President of Litigation for Climate & Energy:
“The Department of Energy will play a key role in solving the climate crisis and moving our country towards a just and equitable, pollution-free, 100% clean energy future. We look forward to working with Jennifer Granholm to drive the bold and equitable change we need.
“After four years of the Trump administration working on behalf of big polluters, we deserve a Secretary of Energy who will listen to scientists, confront the climate crisis, and put the health, safety, and well-being of all Americans first. That means investing in clean energy and energy efficiency for everyone’s benefit. Under Granholm’s leadership, DOE must advance environmental justice and make sure no one is left behind in the essential clean energy transition.”
