Mourning Cecil Corbin-Mark and Celebrating His Extraordinary Life
Earthjustice President Abigail Dillen issued a statement in response to the passing of environmental justice leader Cecil Corbin-Mark.
“We are grieving the heartbreaking loss of Cecil Corbin-Mark and sending our love and prayers to his family and the WE ACT community.
“Cecil was bigger than life, a beautiful human being, and a beacon of hope for so many people who learned and benefited from his fearless, effective advocacy for environmental justice.
“Cecil never stopped working for his community — weekends, late nights — but somehow he always had the energy to do more, to make his ambitious vision feel and become attainable. He never lost an opportunity to flip the script and say what was truly important, captivating everyone who had the privilege to hear him speak.
“He leaves us all a legacy of pioneering work and personal generosity that we will carry forward, and we will never stop feeling his absence. We have lost a great leader and friend.”
