President Biden announced that he has reached a deal with a bipartisan group of senators on an infrastructure package.

The following is a statement from Abigail Dillen, President of Earthjustice:

“To meet today’s moment, any proposed infrastructure package must be paired with investments in climate and environmental justice solutions. We have a once in a lifetime opportunity to pass bold, sweeping legislation that would center environmental justice, tackle the climate crisis, invest in clean energy, and protect our bedrock environmental laws and our environment. Congress must act accordingly.

“President Biden, Majority Leader Schumer, and Speaker Pelosi have been clear: we cannot move an infrastructure package without a reconciliation bill rooted in climate action. To fulfill the promises made to the American people, Congress must pass a bill that contains the breadth and vision of the American Jobs Plan on justice, equity, and climate action.”
