Today, the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis released their last report outlining current and future opportunities to address the climate crisis while highlighting the progress on climate action the committee has made over the last four years. Following the release of the report, Earthjustice President Abigail Dillen issued the following statement:

“Speaker Pelosi created the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis because she understood that addressing climate change and safeguarding our planet’s future warranted a full congressional response. Through the fearless leadership of Chair Castor, the committee helped bring climate priorities to the forefront of the congressional agenda and played a critical role in building a strong case for and passing the largest climate investment in our history. This latest report demonstrates that while we have made real progress toward achieving our climate goals, there is still much to be done. We thank Chair Castor and the members of the committee for their work. With the prospect of significant climate action unlikely in the next Congress, we urge President Biden to build on the Select Committee’s latest recommendations by utilizing his executive authority to help us reach our climate goals in an equitable and just way.”
