Today, The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced the availability of the $7 billion in funding for the ‘Solar for All’ Program. The funds are the latest investments from the Inflation Reduction Act, and will be made available as grants to states, tribes, municipalities, and nonprofits across the country to fund solar projects in low-income communities.  After the announcement, Earthjustice Climate and Energy Legislative Director Chris Espinosa issued the following statement:

“This funding is a gamechanger for unlocking access to rooftop and community solar programs for millions of low-income families across the country who are already disproportionately impacted by both the climate crisis and high energy costs. At a time where large parts of the country are suffering under dangerous heatwaves, this expansion of affordable clean energy access is more important than ever. We applaud the Biden administration for making these Inflation Reduction Act investments available for low-income and disadvantaged communities across the country.  We encourage them to continue to prioritize marginalized and underserved communities throughout the ‘Solar for All’ program’s implementation.”
