Today, the Biden administration announced that John Podesta will assume the role of senior adviser to the President for international climate policy, the role previously held by Secretary John Kerry. After the announcement, Earthjustice President Abigail Dillen issued the following statement:

“There is no better person to ensure true U.S. climate leadership on the world stage. John Podesta is a supremely effective climate champion. He is responsible for driving enormous progress in implementing the historic investments of the Inflation Reduction Act. As he assumes this new role, we are confident that he is the person we need now to rise to the daunting challenges and also transformative opportunities for international cooperation to address our climate emergency.”
