Grant Tolley grew up and attended college in Hawaiʻi, earning degrees in English and plant biology.
Grant's experiences exploring the beautiful, evolutionarily marvelous, and ecologically fragile Hawaiian archipelago instilled in him a passion for conservation and influenced him to continue his studies at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. At Yale, his master's thesis focused on regeneration of tropical forests in Panama following agricultural abandonment, but his coursework tilted toward environmental law and policy. After receiving his Master's in Forest Science from Yale, Grant interned at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, where his interest in environmental law grew.
Grant joined Earthjustice in 2012 where he works as the litigation assistant in the Northeast regional office in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Grant loves traveling, plants, non sequiturs, and administrative agency.
