Kristin Carden

Title: Associate Attorney

Bar Admissions: AZ, D.C.

Kristin Carden is an associate attorney in Earthjustice’s Northern Rockies Office. An Ohio native, Kristin first ventured out West for college—and fell in love with the mountains, wildlife, and sense of wonder instilled by western landscapes. Her undergraduate studies in Wildlife & Fisheries Science at the University of Arizona led to several seasons with the National Park Service: studying brown bears at Katmai National Park in Alaska, and hawksbill sea turtles at Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park.

She received her law degree from Harvard in 2005, and practiced in Arizona for approximately two years. An overarching interest in the intersection of conservation law, science, and policy led Kristin to return to school once again. Her graduate studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara’s Bren School of Environmental Science and Management focused on sustainable fisheries management. She received her Ph.D. in September 2012, and was thrilled to move to Montana to join the Earthjustice team in its fight to protect the majestic landscapes and critters of the Northern Rockies.

When she’s not working, Kristin enjoys hiking, camping, snowshoeing, skiing, knitting, quilting, cooking, and trying to tire out her two Australian Shepherds.
