Crab larvae found to contain oil

There is now evidence that oil from BP's Gulf spill has entered the food chain at the microscopic level—proving that while the oil is mostly out of sight, it is not out of our lives.

According to an AP report today, larvae of the blue crab have been found to contain oil they absorbed and will pass on to larger predators that eat them. As AP says:

The government said last week that three-quarters of the spilled oil has been removed or naturally dissipated from the water. But the crab larvae discovery was an ominous sign that crude had already infiltrated the Gulf's vast food web—and could affect it for years to come.

"It would suggest the oil has reached a position where it can start moving up the food chain instead of just hanging in the water," said Bob Thomas, a biologist at Loyola University in New Orleans. "Something likely will eat those oiled larvae ... and then that animal will be eaten by something bigger and so on."

Tiny creatures might take in such low amounts of oil that they could survive, Thomas said. But those at the top of the chain, such as dolphins and tuna, could get fatal "megadoses."

Okay people, its TIME TO ACT! This is rediculous, while the Gulf of Mexico is suffering this catastrophy, President Obama is on vacation! Apparently, the government is too lazy to actually do something about it. I mean, listen to the solutions that they had, "clogging it with garbage?" that is just rediculous. My father is a pool salesman he has developed a more effective and less expensive way to get rid of all of this oil and save the marine life. If you ask me, President Obama is not doing a good job in helping us out of these calamities. The Ressession? Yeah, that's not even close to being done with, I actually think that President Obama has actually gotten us FURTHER into a ressession. He actually thinks that it would be best to put money into the Social Security Fund or the Retirement fund or whatever so that all of the retired, old people get $250 dollars. That is not that much, buddy. That is NOT going to help anything, in fact, it made things worse. Eventually, their grandchildren are going to have to pay for that. Stop wasting money and use that money to pay off our country's EXTREME dept. Cut the crap and actually DO something for once, Obama.

Why dont you quit bitching about the president and do something yerself god damn retard >.>

Mitt Romney was the 70th Governor of Massachusetts from Jan 2,2003 to Jan 4,2007. During his one term the Buzzards Bay oil spill happened during April 2003 .

On April 27, 2003, eight years ago the Bouchard Barge B-120 hit an obstacle in Buzzards Bay, creating a 12-foot rupture in its hull and discharging an estimated 100,000 gallons of No. 6 oil. The oil is known to have affected an estimated 90 miles of shoreline, killed 450 numerous bird species, and recreational use of the bay, such as shell fishing and boating.

Since the 2003 oil spill the US Coast Guard has appealed the 2004 Massachusetts Oil Spill Prevention Act and one Massachusetts property damage lawsuit has dragged on for eight years. Republican Mitt Romney is laying the groundwork for a possible White House campaign in 2012, hiring a team of staff members and consultants.
