New Poll Shows Americans Want Politics Kept Out of Science

"Over the past few years, a growing number of scientific decisions made at the federal level have been compromised by the misuse and manipulation of science. Protections for wildlife and natural habitat have been particularly undermined by the suppression and distortion of scientific studies.
"Endangered species ranging from salmon to bull trout to the Florida panther are being pushed closer to extinction by the misuse of science in the very agencies charged with protecting our wildlife heritage. It's time to put a stop to the politicization of science, and affirm the scientific principles that Earthjustice and 16 other public interest groups have signed today.
"We hope that policy makers at all levels of government will make a commitment to policies that will restore scientific integrity to government decisions that affect environmental protections, as well as public health and safety."
