Obama Administration Propose Strong Fuel Efficiency Standards
Proposal will help reduce U.S. dependency on Big Oil
Yesterday, the Obama Administration formally proposed a 54.5 miles-per-gallon carbon pollution and fuel efficiency standards for cars and light trucks by 2025. The joint announcement came from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Department of Transportation.

“We need to dramatically improve fuel efficiency to fulfill the promise of the Clean Air Act. This proposal is an important and welcome step toward cleaner cars and carbon pollution reduction.
“Curbing carbon dioxide pollution from new vehicles and power plants are two vital initiatives that will help move our nation into a cleaner and safer 21st century.”
