Today, the House Appropriations Committee marked up the FY2018 Interior appropriations bill.

The following is a statement from Martin Hayden, Earthjustice Vice President of Policy and Legislation:

“After balking at President Trump’s extreme budget proposal, House Republicans have turned around and produced their own horrendous plan that would still cripple the EPA and compound years of devastating cuts. Make no mistake: this proposal would gut vital protections for the air we breath, the water we drink, and the parks and lands that are so precious to our country. The bottom line is that President Trump and House Republicans are both bending over backwards to dish out favors to wealthy special interests, like Big Oil, while jeopardizing the health of our children and families. This proposal is completely unacceptable and we’ll fight to ensure it sinks like a stone in the Senate.”
