Anna Baltzer is the executive assistant to the vice president of Communications & Marketing. Anna is based in Earthjustice headquarters in San Franscisco, CA.
Prior to joining Earthjustice, Anna worked for 16 years in the Palestinian rights movement, supporting farmers and families on the ground in Palestine with accompaniment, documentation, and direct action; presenting widely with her book, Witness in Palestine: A Jewish American Woman in the Occupied Territories and talk, “Life in Occupied Palestine: Eyewitness Stories and Photos”; and eventually serving as director of organizing and advocacy at the U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights. Anna has spoken at more than 500 universities, faith institutions, policy institutes, and parliaments across five continents and appeared on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart; at the Oxford Union; and in The New York Times, Associated Press, Washington Post, Guardian, and many other media outlets. In 2017, Anna delivered a TEDx talk entitled “The Danger of Neutrality.”
Anna received her Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Economics at Columbia University and worked for several years as an English teacher in Ankara, Turkey. From 2002 - 2012, Anna worked as executive assistant and administrative director at Camp It Up!, a queer family camp in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Anna is passionate about working at the intersections of fighting climate change, racism, sexism, and other systems of injustice, understanding that none can be fought in isolation. She was an active supporter of the 2014 Ferguson Uprisings near St. Louis, where she lived for 10 years before returning to the Bay Area. Anna loves languages, traveling, singing, word games, and running along the beautiful San Francisco Bay.
