Brittany Lee (pronounced Brit-ta-ny) is a passionate facilitator, author, learning strategist, and DEI professional with over 15 years of experience doing organizational transformation work in the academic and non-profit sectors. Brittany, most commonly known as Britt by friends and colleagues, brings a trauma-informed lens to her learning and strategy development practices, while holding the complexities of systemic oppression and its impact on marginalized peoples. Britt has a deep love for learning and the self and collective transformation that can happen during the learning and unlearning process. She has a gift for creating interventions and opportunities for healing and growth for those who are ready to lean into their own equity learning journeys.
Prior to Earthjustice, Britt spent the past 5 years at the Sierra Club, where she led organizational-wide equity learning efforts for staff and volunteers, with an emphasis on support resources for the BIPOC community. While the climate crisis and other systemic disparities continue to disrupt so many lives, Britt is committed to the fight for our future and making sure the communities that are impacted “first and worst” are consistently being centered in our work.
Britt completed her B.S. in Corporate Communication and Africana Studies from the University of Central Missouri and her M.Ed. in Adult & Higher Education from the University of Oklahoma. She is also an international delegate for the Diversity in Organizations, Communities & Nations Research Network. Her research and professional interests include intersectionality, educating adult learners, understanding implicit biases and structural racism, dismantling systems of oppression, black feminist thought, empowering queer communities of color, supporting communities navigating across difference, and creating transformational organizational change.
Britt truly believes that laughter, music, and dance can heal the soul. She also loves to explore new food scenes. When Britt is not holding learning and healing spaces for her various communities, she is most likely traveling the world and spending quality time outdoors with her husband Reggie and their dog KJ. Britt is currently based in St. Louis, MO and uses both she & they pronouns.
