Chris Chaleunrath is a Major Gifts Officer based in Los Angeles.
Chris was born and raised in Washington, D.C. He comes from Lao and French parents, with an upbringing heavily rooted in nonprofit organizations. His father, also a career nonprofit professional, founded The Newcomers Community Service Center in the 1977 serving immigrants and refugees. His early experiences instilled in Chris a deep respect for the sector and a sense of purpose to combat the world’s injustices.
After receiving his finance degree, he worked for a short period as an investment analyst on Wall Street before quickly transitioning back to his true calling — serving nonprofits to make an impact on important issues facing our society. Over the past 18 years, Chris worked in finance, development, and consulting roles for various organizations such as Womenkind, International Campaign for Tibet, New Tech Network, and Ocular Associates. Most recently, Chris served as the Director of Philanthropy for Heifer International.
Chris views his role with Earthjustice as the culmination of his background and experiences. He is proud to work for a leading environmental law organization that makes a direct impact on communities and on a global scale.
Earthjustice is the premier nonprofit environmental law organization.
