Ilona Mantachian is a Litigation Assistant / Legal Practice Administrator based out of Headquarters in San Francisco.
She simultaneous earned a B.A. in Legal Studies with an emphasis on Law and Culture, as well as a B.S. in Environmental Science with a focus on U.S. Environmental Policy and Management from the University of California, Berkeley. While at Berkeley, she focused her research on environmental justice and climate migration, and was a Staff and National Policy Associate for the Environmental Office of the Associated Students of UC Berkeley. Prior to Earthjustice, Ilona co-founded the student chapters of the ACLU and Lawyers without Borders, before working as a litigation paralegal for a trial attorney in the Bay Area. She is hoping to pursue both a PhD and her JD in the near future, and Ilona’s ultimate goal is to fight for the recognition of climate refugees on an international level. When not in the office, she can be found exploring new hiking spots with her dog.
Earthjustice is the premier nonprofit environmental law organization. We wield the power of law and the strength of partnership to protect people’s health, to preserve magnificent places and wildlife, to advance clean energy, and to combat climate change. We are here because the earth needs a good lawyer.
