Jill Witkowski Heaps

Jill Witkowski Heaps is a senior attorney at Earthjustice’s Northeast office. She is based in Buffalo, New York.
Jill is the former director of the Environmental Advocacy Clinic at Vermont Law School, deputy director of the Tulane Environmental Law Clinic, and assistant director of the Environmental Law Clinic at the University at Buffalo School of Law. She served as director of the Choose Clean Water Coalition and as waterkeeper at San Diego Coastkeeper. She clerked for the Honorable Virginia Hernandez Covington of U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida and began her career as an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in New York City. She graduated Order of the Coif from Washington University School of Law in 2002. Jill served for six years on the National Environmental Justice Advisory Council.
